The Glow team would like to take a moment to sincerely share our gratitude with all those who made lifelong impacts in over 250 women and girls in Belfast, Northern Ireland. This was only possible because of your support towards our vision and deciding to be a part of making a difference.
Buckle up as we recap the many people we met along the journey of 2017!
A massive thank you to our funders as we certainly could not have made
this year so great without you.
Big Lottery Funding
Children In Need
Rosa Woman to Woman Fund
We are also beyond thankful for all the organisations and schools we were able to work with and we look forward to continued partnerships with those listed below:
Extern, Lighthouse, Ardoyne Shankill Health Partnership,
Let Youth Lead, Collective Impact with Barnardos,
Forthspring, Star neighborhood Centre
Mercy College and The Academy Hair and Beauty Training Schools
Many of the women and girls we were able to assist this year were with the help of referrals from these supporting organisations and agencies:
CAMHS, Local Family Support Hubs, Shankill SureStart, Prince’s Trust,
Belfast Trust, Education Authority – Education Welfare Services,
Integrated Services, Welcome Organisation, Start 360 and PBNI
Throughout 2017 we held 20+ programmes including “The Real Me” for women and “LILY” for girls. This allowed us to help support each individual while delivering personal development skills to 85 women and 90 girls.

As the year went on we covered more miles and more experiences along the journey.
Our founder, Chara Clarke, enrolled in an Accelerator Programme with Amplify NI to understand the problems people in Northern Ireland are facing and how we can connect with those around us to offer solutions that bring vibrancy back to people’s lives and their communities. This training has been vital to ensure that Glow is taking appropriate steps to continue moving forward and making the best impact possible.
In September, Leah McCourt who is an MMA Athlete (IMMAF European & World Champion) joined Glow as our very first ambassador. She is very passionate about encouraging women and girls everywhere to chase their dreams and to believe in themselves.
Also in September, we held our 3rd Annual Glow Sparkle & Shine Conference which was bigger and better this year with nearly 100 girls who stayed overnight for sessions that covered crushing stereotypes and labels, healthy relationships with food and exercise and many team building activities. We are excited to plan new and exciting ideas for the next one in 2018!
£1000 was raised through successful fundraisers this year by hosting a Pamper Night and a Swish Party. We are also grateful to Thomas Rodgers and his team of co-workers at Halifax who raised money for Glow.
What better way to end the year than to go out with a bang?
Well that is what we surely did by releasing our very first published book “Discover The Real You” in November! This book contains the materials we use in our personal development programmes to help reach more women because we believe every woman can benefit from taking time to build her self-esteem and discover her purpose in life.

Wow, the milestones we reached in 2017 serve as a reminder that there is a need for us to continue to support those around us and to be the helping hand to every woman and girl. Would you kindly consider donating to give a woman or girl the confidence she needs to believe in herself and to impact her family, friends and community. As we head into 2018 let’s make a resolution to take time to help others in need. You can partner with Glow by making a one off donation or by becoming a monthly partner by going to the donate button at the top right of the page (click here).
We realise communities work better when we work together so let’s join hands and make 2018 the best year yet!
